Not much going on this week. I think we are ready for a quiet one after the last few busy weeks. We went to hear a Year through the Bible talk on Monday night which was good as always. Then last night, I went to a class on a book called God in the Crucible which is about apartheid in South Africa and one minister's sermons against apartheid over a whole couple of decades. The fact that he had the courage to make the sermons in South Africa, where his stance was unpopular with the government and many of his parishioners, makes the book a worthy read. It shows how one man had the courage of his convictions to keep standing up for his Christian beliefs through many hardships, loss of parishioners, and much talk against his stance. Our leader is a young man who is still attending Duke Divinity School and he says this is the only book he has ever read as a school assignment where when he finished it, he wanted to start it again. Teaching it in this class is giving him a chance to do that. This guy has a lot of zeal for the subject and wants to take the message back down to his South Carolina home state when he gets churches of his own. I think his enthusiasm will be contagious to those of us in the group and I look forward to seeing where it all goes from here. I know I have some reading to do or I will get lost in this class.
Oh, and I got a hair trim. Yippee. Chuck did it at 7:30 a.m. yesterday morning. Don took me and we had breakfast next door afterward. Since the trim only took 20 minutes or less, Don was impressed with the speed and the result. Now if only I can do the styling too. My hair is growing back according to Chuck. He says he thinks I am really going to have a head of hair in a couple of months. Music to my ears, I promise. I told him I guess I am always going to have a ridge in my head as it is a deeper chasm than I would have dreamed it could be and still protect your brain. Chuck says not to worry he has other clients with a ridge in their heads too and he knows how to handle it as time goes by. We still can only do so much as I am afraid of heavy duty products but I did let him put some kind of spray-on stuff that keeps the ends from flying away so badly. It is not thick or stiff like mousse but it seems to do the trick for right now. I was excited about that as well. Chuck gave me a brush and comb before I left. He has been very nice to me throughout this whole thing as has the receptionist, Renee.
